“In Rangi McNeil’s poems the person is first, with a rightness that catches my breath. What surprise, what derision, what intense and ungratifiable desire—each poem is well minded, finished off, only a gasp away. Country occasions, urban jump cuts, a speaker alert and unfazed in his angelic recording: solo and social, he lives in our town.”—Marie Ponsot
