We do things a little differently. Please read our guidelines carefully before submitting.

Guidelines

  • We are thrilled to offer free submissions during our open call

  • Send us seven pages of your best poems from your completed collection. If we think it might be a good fit for Sheep Meadow Press, we'll ask to see the entire manuscript.

  • Do not include any identifying information anywhere in your submission. Works not adhering to this will not be considered.

  • Please submit PDFs only

  • Use a legible 12-point font

  • Each poem must start on a new page

  • Revisions of submitted work are not accepted

  • Simultaneous submissions are fine, but please let us know immediately if your manuscript is accepted elsewhere. If you wish to withdraw your submission, please use the Withdraw feature in Submittable

  • Submissions may incorporate other languages, but the work must be primarily in English

  • Only works by a single author will be considered. No collaborations.

  • By submitting, applicants affirm that no AI was used to assist or generate their work

  • We aim to respond to all submissions within three months of our deadline

  • We'll accept submissions between November 15th and December 15th, or once we reach our cap. Once the cap is reached, the submission portal will close.

Mailed Submissions
Electronic submissions are strongly encouraged, but if you prefer to submit via mail, do not mail originals (manuscripts will not be returned). Please include a self-addressed envelope with the appropriate postage for our response. Mailed submissions must be postmarked before the deadline. Send to:
